Biography:

Livia Sabag holds a degree in Performing Arts from the University of São Paulo. In 2016 she signed the staging of Elektra, by R. Strauss, in the Municipal Theater of São Paulo. In 2015 she staged Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro in the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro, a production originally designed for Theatro São Pedro de São Paulo and a finalist for the Concerto 2014 Prize. In the same year she staged Salomé by R. Strauss at Theatro Municipality of São Paulo. Salomé was the winner of the Concerto 2014 Award in the opera category and was elected the best opera by the specialized jury of Folha de São Paulo. In 2013 she staged Britten’s The Turn of the Screw, at São Pedro Theater in São Paulo, and Madama Butterfly, by Puccini, in Belo Horizonte. The Turn of the Screw was a finalist for the Concerto Magazine Prize and the Folha de São Paulo Award for best operatic performance in 2013. In 2012 she staged “The Rouxinol” by Stravinsky in the Municipal Theater of São Paulo and Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti in Manhattan School of Music in New York. In 2011 she staged the production of Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges and made his international debut with Verdi’s opera Falstaff at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. L’Enfant et les Sortilèges received 6 awards at the XV Carlos Gomes Prize, among them best spectacle and best scenic direction. Between 2007 and 2010 she performed the operas Rigoletto, Pagliacci, A Water Bird Talk, The Bear, Amelia al Ballo and Il Matrimonio Segreto. She is the founder and coordinator of the VOE – Vitória Ópera Estúdio, in Espírito Santo, and is also the idealizer and general director of the Ópera na Escola project conducted since 2010 in public schools in the State of São Paulo. She is currently a master’s degree candidate in Performing Arts from FCSH at Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
