João Nogueira

Biography

João Nogueira (1960) is a psychologist since 1983. Has been in the Psychology Services of Portuguese Air Force from 1984 to 1987. Has a master and PhD degrees in Educational Sciences, ans has been dedicated to Educational Psychology, in spite of his clinic cognitive-behavioral training. Member of the 1st Psychologist Internship Commission and is a trainer in ethics (OPP: Portuguese Psychologists Association). As university lecturer (since 1988) collaborated with the Faculdade de Psicologia e de Ciências da Educação and Faculdade de Letras at the University of Lisbon, the Faculdade de Ciências Humanas of the Portuguese Catholic University, the Faculdade de Ciências da Educação of Timor-Leste National University, Open University, ISPA-Graduate Institute and the Escola Superior de Dança of the Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa. His main research interests are the motivation and the training of teachers and the teaching of Portuguese popular music. He is currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Musicology at the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and coordinates the masters degree in music education. As a musician, he played double bass or bass guitar in popular music (fado, jazz, choro and samba). Currently, he plays in the Libertina Orchestra of Lisbon.
