New radio programme by Tânia Valente (CTC) on Antena 2
GPS — Guia de Paisagens Sonoras is a programme that invites listeners to wander through cities, countries and places shaped by musical stories. Through different eras, atmospheres and even seasons, Tânia Valente (Research Group for the Study of Music, Critical Theory and Communication) explores territories that hold and evoke sounds, memories and inspirations that have echoed in poets and composers.
In each episode, the researcher propose a sensory journey, guided by a metaphorical compass of modern times — GPS — which guides us along unexpected routes, revealing how music is born, grows and transforms in the places it inhabits.
The programme follows the trail of music to the places where it happens: cities marked by opera, European cultural capitals, landscapes linked to literary imagination, territories where history has left deep marks, migratory routes that helped build countries and identities, and streets where poets and musicians found their voice.
GPS reveals the music of a place or era and offers listeners new ways of hearing the world.
The programme can be heard on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 12.30 a.m. and all episodes are then available on RTP Play.
