Doctoral Programme in Music — Artistic Practices in the Portuguese Context I Applications open until May 22
At a time of transformation in higher arts education, ESMAE, in partnership with CESEM, is launching a pioneering initiative in which musical practice itself is the driving force behind research. Applications open on April 27 and close on May 22. Interviews will take place between 15 and 23 June.
Focused on artistic research through practice, DocMus.pt (Doctoral Programme in Music — Artistic Practices in the Portuguese Context) centres on Portuguese musical heritage as a creative driving force, promoting the integration of artistic production, critical reflection and the documentation of creative processes. Through its direct links to the professional sector and CESEM’s scientific rigour, this programme enables musician-researchers to develop cross-disciplinary projects that have a real impact on the international public and academic spheres.
DocMus.pt is also organising a seminar on writing PPI’s, scheduled for May 9, from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. The PPI’s (Research Project Proposal) carries the greatest weight in the assessment (35%) and is often the most challenging part to write. To support applicants, the Doctoral School is organising a full day of in-person sessions with programme staff: writing, discussion and refining ideas in small groups. Participation is free of charge, but places are limited. Applications close on May 1.
