Publication of “Library Music and Imagined Images”, a book by Júlia Durand (CTC)

“Library Music and Imagined Images” is the latest publication in Bloomsbury’s New Approaches to Sound, Music, and Media collection. It takes a musicological and sociological lens to the workings of library music – a little-noticed sonic presence that shapes the media of our everyday lives. By teasing out the patterns and peculiarities that distinguish it from other musical practices, library music is cast here as usable music made for imagined images, as a repository of shared musical imaginaries, and as a raw sonic material that is continuously transformed in multiple moments of meaning-making.
