Haig Utidjian (EMS) has been appointed Visiting Professor of Excellence by INALCO, in partnership with FCG
The National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO – part of the Sorbonne) in partnership with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Inalco Foundation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Haig Utidjian as Visiting Chair of Excellence 2026-2027.
Haig Utidjian, a collaborating researcher at the Centre for Music Studies (Early Music Studies Group) at the New University of Lisbon, is an international authority on Armenian sacred music, mediaeval literature and manuscript culture. As an internationally recognised researcher, conductor and musicologist, his insights on the interactions between music, language and spirituality, coupled with his mastery of languages, will offer students a rich learning experience, as well as opening promising cross-disciplinary perspectives for collaboration across several teams, according to the recent announcement by the Inalco Foundation.
