The Music and Translation Symposium, co-organised by CETAPS and CESEM, will take place on 26 October 2026, from 9.30 am, in room B413 at NOVA FCSH (Av. Berna). The event brings together researchers from the fields of translation and musicology and aims to explore the multiple dimensions of the relationship between translation and music. The programme covers topics such as interlingual translation in musical contexts and the field of “musical translation”, which seeks to apply concepts and methods from translation studies to the analysis of performances, arrangements, adaptations and other musical objects.

The symposium includes two panels of papers, a round-table discussion and two keynote presentations, by Rui Carvalho Homem (CETAPS / FLUP) and Małgorzata Grajter (Grazyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz University of Music in Łódź).
