The seminar “Thinking the Experimental: Poetry, Essay, and Gender Performativity” offers a morning of open-forum discussions on the affinities between poetry, performance, and the essay, considering them as experimental and hybrid forms situated at the intersection of literature, philosophy, ethics, and aesthetics. By exploring the boundaries between verse and prose, speech and writing, body and thought, the seminar also approaches the essay through the lens of gender performativity, challenging normative categories through critical creation and the writing of the discontinuous.

The event will feature two presentations — “The Gender Performativity of the Essay” by Jessica Di Chiara (UFF/CAPES) and “Prose, Poetry, and Deconstruction” by Maria Cristina Fernandez (IFILNOVA) — as well as a roundtable discussion featuring Golgona Anghel (IELT), Jessica Di Chiara (UFF/CAPES), João Pedro Cachopo (CESEM), Maria Cristina Fernandez (IFILNOVA), and Maria Teresa Projecto (CESEM).
