‘Birds & Mushrooms’ I Joana Gama (CM) publishes new book supported by CESEM

Joana Gama, pianist and member of the Research Group on Contemporary Music (CM), recently released the book ‘Birds & Mushrooms’ (‘Pássaros & Cogumelos’) with the support of CESEM. This book, published by Flâneur, is an adaptation of the script for her play of the same name, dedicated to young people, in which the pianist uses Anaxagoras’ maxim “Everything is in everything” to talk about subjects as diverse as friendship, mutual help, food, music, curiosity and the wind.

This book, illustrated by Lavandaria Studio, also mentions composers John Cage and Olivier Messiaen, mycologist and ornithologist respectively. The book also contains QR codes that link to the music of the play, composed by João Godinho and recorded by Joana Gama. These recordings originated the album ‘Pássaros & Cogumelos’ (for toy piano), available on digital platforms.
