Abstract

This project aims to encourage artistic creation and the study of electroacoustic music through a spatialized sound diffusion system, with or without acoustic instruments, based on the theoretical framework provided by the fields of bioacoustics, acoustic ecology, soundscape and other terms that have been used by Truax, Krauss, Schafer, i.a., across the domains of artistic research, ecology and music. The work to be carried out will be guided by a theoretical-practical methodology, through transdisciplinary collaboration between the areas of Composition, Performance and Music Technologies at ESML, using scientific and technical advices from foreign and Portuguese entities experienced in these fields. This particular project is centered on ideas related to the exploration of soundscapes and their applications. The development of the project will be based on 3 pillars inspired by Bernie Krause’s concepts: geophony, biophony and anthropophony.
