This is the first of many projects that the Sanct’Irene Ensemble wants to carry out in the region of Santarém. Therefore, this is it’s main objective: to study, sing and disseminate the Ribatejo musical heritage, whether oral or archival tradition, and to do so by recovering other sounds, less “folk” and, therefore, less marked by the insidious cultural standardization of political regimes of recent Portuguese history.
