ESML has continuously tried to give its composition students the chance to experience the results of their musical creations. In addition to the instrument and/or chamber music auditions and the concerts of ESML's major ensembles that take place throughout the academic year, there are other major events that, due to their history, are a ‘must’ for ESML's composition students. These include ‘Peças Frescas’, in collaboration with the São Luiz Municipal Theatre and the TNSC, Composition Week, the ESML Festival, and, more recently, Música Viva Festival (Miso Music Portugal) and the DME Festival.
‘Portfolios’ is the testimony and record of this intense musical activity. It is a database based on pieces composed by ESML Composition students (Bachelor's and Master's degrees) that have been publicly presented in the aforementioned contexts. Works by teachers will also be included, as long as they have been part of a concert or project, as well as pieces by students and teachers from institutions with which ESML has established protocols or develops projects in partnership, such as CESEM, ESMAE and the University of Évora, among others.
Each work entry includes: (1) a video or audio recording; (2) a text about the piece (programme note or other text); (3) the full score or an excerpt (in each case, as indicated by the composer, the score may contain a watermark); (4) an indication of the venues/contexts in which the works were performed; (5) the composers' pages, on which you can see a brief biography, links to their personal page and a list of their pieces in the 'Portfolios'.
