III International Congress “The Portuguese Language on Music: Camões, 500 years” I Proposals until September 15
Caravelas could not abstain from the festivities honoring the quincentenary of Luís de Camões. It should be noted that the poet’s work and life were referenced and celebrated by numerous composers in both Portugal and Brazil. This resulted in the creation of a vast and varied musical repertoire, ranging from songs to symphonic works, including dramatic and sacred genres. The musical production has played a key role in confirming the importance of the poet and in contributing to his status as a true national hero in both countries. It has also been instrumental in the dissemination and memorialization of his literary production.
In light of the above, Caravelas will dedicate the third edition of the International Congress, entitled “The Portuguese Language in Music”, to Luís de Camões. The event will be held at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa between the 13th and 15th of February 2025.
The call for papers for this event will remain open until September 15th. Send your proposals to congressonucleocaravelas@gmail.com. Find out more at this link.
