Portuguese premiere of Simeon ten Holt’s Canto Ostinato by Joana Gama (CM) and Rui Braga Simões
In this concert, pianists Joana Gama and Rui Braga Simões come together for the first time for the Portuguese premiere of Canto Ostinato (1979) by Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt. This minimalist work, which can be performed by various combinations of keyboard instruments, is an open work in which multiple parameters, such as the number of repetitions, accents, and dynamic contrasts, are up to the performers. The result is a contemplative, hypnotic, and highly engaging experience. Joana Gama is a member of the Research Group on Contemporary Music.
