On January 30th, the 3rd Conference Music, Media and Audience will take place at NOVA FCSH, Av. de Berna. The Conference is part of a SociMus/CESEM project, which aims to gather and process information in order to contribute to scholarly knowledge on the expansion of critical mass on Portuguese musical practices post-April 25th. This research focuses mainly on the levels of reception and mediation, in close relation with the production practices and cultural policies that underpin them. The conference will discuss audiences and social networking in the context of concerts, theatre and opera; cultural policies and expectation systems; Portuguese and Iberian musical connections and affiliations; music and audiovisual criticism, its authors and their discourse, among other topics. Among the examined venues, events, institutions and musical ensembles it is worth mentioning the TNSC, FCG, Teatro Maria Matos, Casino da Figueira da Foz, Encontros Gulbenkian de Música Contemporânea, Orquestra Sinfónica Juvenil, Drumming, Sond’Ar-te Electric Ensemble, Síntese or Performa Ensemble. Regarding the press, notable highlights are A Voz da Figueira, Correio da Manhã, Diário de Notícias, Diário de Lisboa, Diário Popular, Expresso, Jornal de Letras, Artes & Ideias, O Figueira, Público, RTP, to name only a few. This project seeks to foster new research which will assure an ongoing production of knowledge and scientific texts for the volume Music and Media from the Thematic History of Music in Portugal and Brazil, a project of CESEM NOVA FCSH
