Biography

Gabriela Marramaque studied Electronic Music Production, in ETIC, Audiovisual Production, with Jangal Studios, and graduated in Music Technologies at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML) in 2025. Presently, they’re pursuing their PhD in Performative Arts and Moving Image at Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa (FBAUL) in collaboration with other artistic schools, such as ESML and Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema (ESTC).

Their artistic experience is diverse, spawning live entertainment, sound design, audio production, videography and immersive audiovisual formats. To their passion for music and sound they add their love for textile arts and electronics, fusing all their interests together in their techno-artistic practice through the programing and developing of textile sensors and MIDI/OSC controllers.

Their academic research focuses on the interaction between technologies, art, and the body. They’ve participated on the 25th encounter of the Portuguese branch of the Audio Engineering Society with Daniel Cardoso (ECATI-ULHT/FCSH-UNL) with the presentation/performance “(Des)controlo do som como liberdade do (não-)ser”, in 2023, on the international conference Sound in Museums, in 2025, with Diogo Alarcão, presenting the REVERBDATA project, and on 8th International Postgraduate Forum in Studies in Music and Dance with Yi Huang, where they presented “The (heart)Beat: A Real-Time Audiovisual System for Interconnected Performance​”.
