Ladan Taghian Eftekhari is of Portuguese nationality with Iranian origins. She holds a Ph.D. in Aesthetics, Science, and Technology of the Arts from the University of Paris VIII, earned in 1998. In Portugal, she has taught at various institutions, such as the Alliance Française de Coimbra (1987-1989). She was responsible for theater, music, and painting workshops; was a Trainer in Supplementary Training Courses, a Music Teacher at the Instituto Piaget de Arcozelos (1993-1994) and at the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda (2001-2007). With other colleagues from this Institution, she organized and produced several concerts. She was also an Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Coimbra (2007-2009) where she taught courses in Artistic Studies as well as master’s modules in the context of the Seminar in Artistic Studies, related to the methodology of support in the preparation of dissertations.
She is the author of the book João Domingos Bomtempo, a composer within the romantic movement, published by L’Harmattan, Paris, in 2012. She has been a member of CESEM since 1998. Her work’s domain is the sociology of music, and music and literature. She has participated in various international and national colloquia and seminars with presentations and communications. One must identify, among others: “Trobairitz, forgotten muses”, for Faces de Eva, 2018; “World-music, a local-global dialectic”, in the framework of the Colloquium Mediterranean/Globalization, tribute to Paul Vieil, CNRS, Paris, 2017; “Imaginary narration, Ravel and Schumann” in the framework of the MTCC Seminar on Critical Theory and Communication of CESEM, 2014. Also noteworthy is the presentation “World-music, a global invention”, in the context of the Thematic Meeting – Art as a vector of integration, organized by the Regional Center for Integration of Charleroi, Belgium, 2013.
