Ricardo da Rocha (Porto, 1995) divides his time between music and theatre. He studied piano with Rosgard Lingardsson, Jaime Mota and Cecília Siebrits, with whom he completed his piano studies in 2017. Graduated in Musicology at NOVA-FCSH in 2020 and has since been studying for a master’s degree in Historical Musicology at the same institution. He is a collaborator at the Centro de Estudos de Sociologia e Estética Musical – CESEM in the Critical Theory and Communication group, integrating the Gender and Music Research Group and the Music and Interpretation Research Line.
At the same time, he participates in theatre projects as a composer and director. He staged the musical show “A Madrugada que Eu Esperava” (2024) at the Teatro Maria Matos; “Entremez da Peregrina” (2022), at the invitation of Centro de Estudos de Teatro – CET FLUL ; “Maratona Opera XXI” (2021), in the second edition of Operafest Lisboa, with arias by young composers. He has composed music for theatre, including the shows “The Three Marias”, “Ruído”, “O Casaco”, among others.
He is a classical music critic for the newspaper PÚBLICO and a member of the board of the Sociedade de Instrução Guilherme Cossoul, responsible for the music department and artistic director of the Banda Juvenil Guilherme Cossoul.
