Sara Maia

Born in 2000, Sara Maia began her musical studies at the age of six. In 2020, she finished her singing course at the Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa. In 2021, she completed her degree in Musicology, at the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas. She is presently in her second year of a master’s degree in historical musicology. She is, at the same time, doing her degree in singing, at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, trying to combine her activity as a performer and a future musicologist. She has always had a great love for the different arts, having travelled in her childhood and adolescence, in parallel with music, through theatre and dance. She also participated, for 9 years, in the Children’s Choir of the University of Lisbon, as well as in the Chamber Choir of the Instituto Gregoriano, from 2015 to 2020. As she grew, her tastes increasingly turned to the world of music, having participated in several choral projects, as well as a soloist. She also took summer courses in early music, such as at Casa de Mateus (2020) or in Aveiro, with the Ludovice Ensemble (2021). In 2021, due to her taste for choral music, she joined Coro Ricercare, directed by Pedro Teixeira. She is also interested in children’s music education, having previously given sessions of music for babies, in Almada (April 2018, December 2020 and June 2021). She taught at the “Academia do Som” for children aged 4-6 years in 2021.During the final school year and this year, she teaches musical initiation as well as music for babies at the Academia de Música de Almada. She has also worked as a theatre assistant for the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation since 2021.
