Bio Inês Lamela

Born in Esposende (Braga), she began her musical studies at the age of 6 at the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music in Braga.
She graduated in 2003 from the University of Aveiro, in the specific area of ​​piano.

Since 2000 she has been engaged in piano teaching. Currently, she is a piano teacher at the Bairrada School of Arts (Troviscal – Oliveira do Bairro), where she also takes on department coordination functions.

Between 2010 and 2011 she attended the Musical Animators Training Course, at Casa da Música (Porto), having been accepted, in 2012, at the Master in Leadership at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London).

She recently completed (January 2017) her Ph.D. in Music at the University of Aveiro, under the guidance of professors Paulo Maria Rodrigues and Graça Mota, with Music in the Community and Music developed in prison as a research area. In this context, she developed a unique project in the Santa Cruz do Bispo Prison (Porto) with 4 inmates for 9 months, with the piano as the center of all musical work. Her research work has already resulted in several publications and presentations at conferences, national and international.

In the performative domain, she has maintained a regular activity as a pianist, solo and in chamber music. She was co-repeater and concert pianist for the children’s opera “As Palavras na Barriga” by Vasco Negreiros, and recorded the piano accompaniments of the method “I play a lack of bevel” by Joana Amorim and Vasco Negreiros. In addition to working as a pianist, she has been a member of the Bach2Cage and Vocal Ensemble projects since its inception, and has frequently participated in projects as a singer.
