The dictionary's main objective is to gather biographical information on music professionals and amateurs who worked in the Portuguese-Brazilian empire (1500-1822). In the case of individuals who worked in both countries after Brazil's independence or whose musical work had a significant impact in both Brazil and Portugal, the time limits may be extended. In the case of foreigners, the emphasis will always be on their activity within these geographical limits (for example: the composer David Perez's stay in Portugal). Other names may also be included if justified. It is the dictionary's goal to serve as a dynamic means of disseminating and exchanging information.
