‘Fuga In Rosso. Parametri Musicali Nei Linguaggi Visivi Delle Avanguardie’ I Book by Cristina Santarelli (MMP)
‘Fuga In Rosso. Parametri Musicali Nei Linguaggi Visivi Delle Avanguardie’ is a book by Cristina Santarelli, a collaborator in the Music in the Modern Period Group.
Throughout the book, there is a particular focus on the movements that were established in the New World in the post-war period (Abstract Expressionism, Conceptualism, Minimalism, Pop Art), influenced by Jewish esotericism, Eastern Christian spirituality and, above all, philosophies of the Far East. The key concepts that inform both music and ultramarine painting — randomness, alteration, non-intentionality, as well as the propensity to organise composition around an assortment of fluctuating centres, the character of time as a variable function, and the idea of ‘open form’ in which it is the artistic process itself that generates the work of art — derive from the latter.
The book serves, in a certain way, as a complement to the “L’equivoco del bianco. Percorsi interdisciplinari tra musica, letteratura e arti visive’, published in 2023.
