Sheet music book and lecture I João Pedro Delgado’s activity (MMP)
The composition and publication of Catorze cantares ancestrais portugueses, para coro a 2 vozes brancas: Para os coros e formações musicais do 1º a 3º graus dos conservatórios portugueses by collaborator João Pedro Delgado (Grupo Música Período Moderno), stems from the identification of two needs. Firstly, the author aims to address the scarcity of pedagogical materials for Portuguese conservatories based on musical materials drawn from our popular musical tradition. Secondly, these pieces reflect a desire to help address the significant lack of choral repertoire available for two a cappella voices in the Portuguese language. The traditional melodies used are sourced from the collections of António Joyce, Fernando Lopes-Graça, Rodney Gallop, Miguel Carvalhinho and Lt. Francisco Dias. The sheet music book was published by AvA Musical Editions (ISMN: 979-0-55054-146-7).
Among the collaborator’s recent activities, the lecture ‘Anxiety in Performance and Stage Fear: mental and physical control for performance excellence’, which took place on October 19, also stands out. In this context, João Pedro Delgado presented a technical approach to problems related to performance anxiety, namely causes, symptoms, effects, strategies and solutions, applying evidence-based scientific knowledge to the musical practices of study, preparation and public performance of music.
