Call for papers: Music between Italy and Brazil in the long 19th century: musicians and repertoires / musicians and musical life

This Congress aims to be a space for us to gather the most recent Italian and Brazilian research on the subject and face together the challenge of filling gaps that still exist in the history of musical relations between Italy and Brazil in the long 19th century, so that all this information remains more accessible to the general historiography of music and the history of culture.

The Congress will be held in two stages, in 2021, a meeting on 16-17 April in Rome, under the care of La Sapienza University and dedicated to “Musicians and repertoires”, and another in September in Rio de Janeiro, under the care of the School of Music of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, dedicated to “Musicians and musical life”.

Communication proposals in Italian, Portuguese, English and Spanish, for the first stage of the Congress, will be accepted until November 20, 2020 in the format of Abstracts of up to 1000 words, including any bibliography, and a biographical note of the (s) author (s) of up to 500 words, through the email musitabras2021.ufrj-sapienza@uniroma1.it.

The proposals will be evaluated by our Scientific Council and the results will be published until December 18th, 2020.
Communications can take place in Italian, Portuguese, English and Spanish, sending in advance a written summary in the language of the country where the Congress stage takes place, to be made available to participants.
