As part of NOVA FCSH’s new postgraduate course on Contemporary Portuguese Culture, organised in cooperation with the Camões Institute, Paula Gomes-Ribeiro (CESEM Senior Researcher and Associate Professor in the Department of Musicology) will be in charge of the course “Temas da Cultura Musical Portuguesa Contemporânea” (‘Themes of Contemporary Portuguese Musical Culture’), which will take place between May 26 and July 4 in an asynchronous e-learning system.
Camões Institute sponsors special conditions for access to the Postgraduate Programme, financially supporting candidates with ties to this institution. NOVA FCSH is offering 24 scholarships for micro-accreditations. See the notice here.
This course proposes a dynamic and interdisciplinary approach to specific themes in Portuguese musical culture, from the First Republic to the present day. A thematically structured, dialogical process is established, favouring mediations between agents, repertoires, institutions and musical experiences, in readings informed by contemporary debates on the areas under study.
