The Line of Therapeutic Effects of Music (LETM) aims at multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research between the various groups of CESEM that can contribute to the development of research in the field of Therapeutic Effects of Music. The thematic areas of study can affect different populations ages of the human life in situations of vulnerability with the aim of prevention or therapeutic intervention.
LETM encourages the participation of researchers (Juniors and Seniors) with different levels of experience as well as the advice of other professionals and experts in the field of Medical Sciences through the link between the University and the Institutions providing health care, namely Hospitals.
LETM was established in 2014 based on the interest manifested by some Integrated Members in the Human Education and Development Group of CESEM. The projects developed and underway have focused particularly on research-action methodologies, participant observation and microanalysis in groups of earlier stages of human development, namely pregnant women and adolescent mothers, observation of markers of fetal behavior in the context of ultrasound and interaction vocal, observation of physiological indicators in preterm mother-infant dyads in the context of a Neonatal Unit Care.
CURRENT PROJECTS (2015-2019):
I – Mother’s vs. mother’s speech. the maternal singing in the condition of the kangaroo method: analysis of the maternal neonatal vital parameters and the contingent relation of the preterm dyads (Principal Investigator: Eduarda Carvalho) project validated by the Ethics Committee of the Central Hospital Center of Lisbon on March 10, 2016, Maternity Dr. Alfredo Da Costa – Unit of Neonatology, Partnership with BabyLab Nanterre – Paris X and Faculty of Psychology – UL.
II – Longitudinal study of vocal interactions with sample of pregnant women with prenatal singing group experience: observations on a 4D ultrasound and during the first year of the baby’s life in the condition of speech and maternal singing (in progress since March 2019, LAMCI-CESEM).
