Biography

Currently attending the Doctoral Program in Music and Musicology at Escola de Artes da Universidade de Évora, under the guidance of Professor Eduardo Lopes. His thesis in progress is titled “The Composer of the Digital Era – from practice to pedagogy.” In 2012, he completed a Master’s degree in Music and Music Teaching, specializing in Composition, at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa (IPL), under the supervision of António Pinho Vargas, Carlos Marecos, and Francisco Cardoso. In 2008, he completed his undergraduate degree in Composition at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (IPL), where he studied with composers Carlos Caires, Christopher Bochmann, José Luís Ferreira, and Sérgio Azevedo in the specific area of composition, and with other composers such as Carlos Marecos, João Madureira, Roberto Perez, and Benoît Gibson in other curriculum areas. He studied composition at the secondary level with composer Daniel Schevtz. Since 31/10/2022, he has been an Invited Assistant Professor in the Pós-Graduação em Direção de Bandas e Ensembles de Sopros, do Instituto Politécnico de Leiria – Escola Superior de Educação e Ciências Sociais. Since 01/09/2012, he has been a teacher at Escola Profissional da Metropolitana, where he served as Pedagogical Director between 01/09/2020 and 31/08/2023. Since 01/09/2008, he has been a teacher at Conservatório de Música D. Dinis, Odivelas. He currently collaborates with publishers Arpejo Editora, AVA Musical Editions, MIC, ROSSIO Music Publishing, SCOMEGNA, and Edizioni Musicali s.r.l. He is the director of the mixEnsemble project. He is a co-author, along with saxophonist João Pedro Silva, of the book “The Pedagogical Saxophone | The Educational Saxophone | Le Saxophone pédagogique.”
