Biography

After receiving his PhD with the thesis El pensamiento musical de Antonio Eximeno (2012), Alberto Hernández Mateos has published articles in journals such as Il Saggiatore Musicale, Revista de Musicología, Cuadernos de Música Iberoamericana, Artigrama and Bulletin of Spanish Studies, among others, and book chapters in publishing houses such as Verbum, Ediciones Complutense and Ut Orpheus, on issues related to musical thought and historiography and the public discourse around music in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Responsible for the critical edition of the treatise Del origen y reglas de la música, by Antonio Eximeno (Verbum, 2016), he has studied and edited texts by Schopenhauer (Sobre la música. Casimiro, 2016) and Juan Andrés (Historia de la teoría de la música. Casimiro, 2017). Between 2012 and 2021 he worked as concert coordinator in the Music Department of the Fundación Juan March, and is currently Professor at the University of Salamanca.
