Arnon Oliveira holds a degree in Piano and Conducting from the School of Music at UFMG; a Master’s degree in Musicology, with an emphasis on Brazilian Music, from Unirio; and a Ph.D. in History, with a focus on the Social History of Culture, from UFMG. He is an Associate Professor of Conducting, Coordinator of the Choral Music Division at UFMG, and Head of the Department of General Music Theory at the UFMG School of Music. He is also the Conductor and Artistic Director of the Madrigale Choir. As a researcher and musicologist, he is responsible for the recovery and premiere performances of several works by composers from Minas Gerais, spanning both the colonial period and the 20th century (Lobo de Mesquita, Pe. João de Deus de Castro Lobo, Manoel Dias de Oliveira, and Hostílio Soares).
