Cláudio da Silva

Professional musician, specializing in contemporary trumpet. In addition to his work as a trumpeter, Cláudio da Silva integrated the musical direction of international contemporary music productions. In 2023 he was assistant director of the opera Lulu de Alban Berg. Responsible for musical and artistic assistance. Production of Theater an der Wien and Wiener Festwochen, with participation of the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra. Directed by Marlene Monteiro Freitas with conductor Maxime Pascal. In 2022 he was assistant director of the work Pierrot Lunaire by Arnold Schönberg. In charge of musical and artistic assistance. Premieres in Vienna at the Wiener Festwochen, with the participation of the Klangforum Chamber Orchestra Wien.  Direction of Marlene Monteiro Freitas and musical direction of conductor Ingo Metzmacher.   In 2019 he was the founder of the international trumpet quartet The Window Trumpet Quartet.  Since 2017, Cláudio has been on a world tour with the piece “The Bacchae” by Marlene Monteiro Freitas, where he interprets contemporary works by composers such as Luciano Berio, among others. With more than a hundred international presentations. In 2017 he was the first trumpet in Gilberto Gil’s European tour with the New Lisbon Opera Orchestra. In 2013 he joined the cast of contemporary dance creations such as “Two Maybe More” by Marco Martins, Sofia Dias and Victor Roriz and theater plays such as A mãe de Bertolt Brecht with staging by Joaquim Benite (2010).  Between 2010 and 2020, he was a trumpet teacher at the Hot Clube Jazz School.  Performed solo and in ensemble in several cities around the world, including Sydney, Hong Kong, New York, Mozambique, Paris, Berlin, London. He attended some of the most prestigious international courses of improvement in contemporary music such as Stockhausen Concerts and Courses Kürten in Germany and The Center for Advanced Musical Studies at Chosen Vale in the United States of America.
