Joaquim Carmelo Rosa

Born in Lisbon in 1955, studied music in the Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa (General studies), in the Conservatório Nacional (Recorder), in the Departamento de Musicologia of the FCSH of the UNL (Graduation and Master in Historical Musicology) and in the Royal Holloway of the  University of London (PhD in Historical Musicology). His present areas of interest are: History and Sociology of Music (Portugal, 19th and 20th centuries), Musical institutions (Education and Performance), Musical iconography, Gender studies and Research methodologies.
