Biography
Completed his PhD in Music in 2011 from the University of Aveiro; Master in Piano Performance and Pedagogy in 1998 from Northwestern University (IL, USA); Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Course (DipRAM) and Teaching Certificate (LRAM) in 1992 by the Royal Academy of Music of London. Graduated in Higher Piano Course in 1989 from the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid. He has been a professor since 1998 at the Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espetáculo do Porto (ESMAE, IPP). Research interests: functional piano, improvisation, harmonization, spontaneous reading, education, transcription, music notation.
