José Mário Branco was one of the most remarkable personalities in Portuguese music since the 1960s, as a singer, composer/arranger, and music producer. His artistic impact ranges from recordings to live, musical, and theatrical performances. As a result of his activity, he built up a documentary archive of scores, parts, audio files, album and show mappings, professional correspondence, etc. This archive, kept at his residence, was temporarily made available to CESEM for categorization, digitization, sanitization, and repackaging. At the end of the process, both parties agreed that these digital materials, coherently organized, would be inserted into a database of their own for free online consultation, designed as an auxiliary tool for the study, dissemination, and social reappropriation of his work. The database was structured to facilitate access to the songbook and the artistic network around it; so the organisation of the digital archive was kept in the background. Images and other relevant data for documenting and contextualizing the artist's career have been added to the materials in the archive as they become available.
