The main aim of the Performance and Context project is to stimulate performance, audiovisual recording and academic reflection on artistic objects. Through creative and systematic musical activity and from the application or incorporation of new knowledge within the scope of this activity (in terms of interpretation, historically framed performance practice, or technical innovation, for example), the objective is to encourage not only performance but also theoretical, aesthetic and philosophical debate on artistic practice.
A series of musical performances from various aesthetic universes will be recorded on audio and video, as well as interviews with the musicians involved in the performance process. Reflection texts about contexts and processes will also be produced. The idea is to discuss in depth the methods of searching, collecting, archiving, interpreting, explaining and experimenting, as well as the motivations, inspirations and discussions underlying the process of formulating problems from the conception to the implementation, publication and evaluation of an artistic object.
