Joana Gama’s Artistic Residency in Japan

Joana Gama, pianist and member of the Research Group on Contemporary Music, is in Japan preparing her next play for younger audiences. Entitled “E as flores?” (‘What about the flowers?’), the piece will parallel the floral universe in Western and Eastern cultures. Whilst visiting Kanazawa, the pianist gave her book ‘Birds & Mushrooms’, an edition supported by CESEM, to Daisetz Teitaru Suzuki, Director of the D. T. Suzuki Museum. Suzuki was John Cage’s mentor in Zen Buddhism, a fact mentioned in the book.
