‘The Mask’, a novel by Pedro Nunes (EHD)
‘The Mask’ presents a fictional and romantic side as well as a historical and musical aspect, involving the worlds of the Scala Opera House in Milan and La Fenice in Venice. The book also includes real 19th-century characters such as soprano Romilda Pantaleoni (1847 – 1917) and conductor Franco Faccio (1840 – 1891) and a substantial part of the action involves the premiere of Verdi’s opera Otello in 1887. The book by Pedro Nunes (Education and Human Development Group) was launched on April 22.
