Study journey in Paris co-organised by Kristin Hoefener (EMS)
‘Musicologie et médiévistique: relectures pluridisciplinaires’, event organised by ean-François Goudesenne (IRHT) and Kristin Hoefener (Early Music Studies Group – CESEM, Universidade Nova de Lisboa), will take place in Paris between 17 and 20 June.
Each researcher is invited to focus on a related manuscript or set of sources, highlighting multidisciplinary issues. These analyses will focus on connections of musicology and medieval studies (philology, history, history of the arts, mentalities, etc.).
Researchers Susan Boynton (Columbia University), Jean-François Goudesenne, Kristin Hoefener and Susanna Zapke (Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität Wien) will explore manuscripts from different Parisian collections from a variety of angles: codex structure, musical notation, liturgical use, the role of illuminations and rubrics in religious practice.
These workshops will be complemented by a film on medievalist professions, a presentation of medieval instrumentarium by musician Xavier Terrasa, and a lecture-concert with the ensemble Rue des Chantres in the Humathèque on the Condorcet campus.
Also in June, on the 11, between 4.30 pm and 6 pm, Kristin Hoefener will present ‘A Glimpse into a Musicologist’s Lab: Working with Chant Databases such as CANTUS and PEM (Portuguese Early Music Database)’.
