Publication of the book The Materiality of Sound in Chant Manuscripts in the East

The Materiality of Sound in Chant Manuscripts in the East, published recently, brings together articles on ancient Greek, Byzantine, Coptic, and Armenian music scripts in the East. Together with the collection of essays published in The Materiality of Sound in Chant Manuscripts in the West, these books discuss the peculiarities and idiosyncrasies beyond the cultural and geographical contexts of production and uses of their manuscript sources.

The book is dedicated to the memory of Ivan Moody (1964-2024), who began the editorial journey with Elsa De Luca (Early Music Studies Group) and Jean-François Goudesenne, and Haig Utidjian also contributed.
