CESEM co-organises the 22nd Biennial on Baroque Music (Mafra, 2027)
For the first time, Portugal will host the International Conference on Baroque Music, one of the most significant scientific gatherings dedicated to the study of 17th and 18th-century music. The proposal was presented by Andrew Wooley (Early Music Studies Group) and Cristina Fernandes (INET-md) during the 2025 edition, held at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and selected by the participants with a majority of votes.
The 22nd edition of this prestigious event will take place in 2027 at the Royal Building of Mafra, a UNESCO World Heritage site, utilizing spaces provided to the two research centres on music at NOVA FCSH by the Mafra Municipality, in collaboration with the National Museum of Music.
