CESEM & NOVA FCSH I CEEC Support Sessions and Projects

Regarding the 8th edition of the Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus, CESEM support sessions are as follows:

• 17 December, 10:30 a.m. – Ana Filipa Magalhães | A successful application, but only on the third try, so don’t give up at first!
• 6 January, 10:30 a.m. – Andrew Woolley | Presenting your curriculum in the best light and refining your research idea.
• 7 January, 3:00 p.m. – Júlia Durand | Creativity under constraint: forms, formulas, and taking a gamble.
• 9 January, 10:30 a.m. – Vinícius de Aguiar | A grant proposal is not an essay: notes on the rhetoric and structure of a CEEC application.

Sessions for individual projects last 90 minutes and typically consist of approximately 45 minutes of presentation by the researcher, followed by 45 minutes of discussion. During the second part, you are encouraged to present and discuss your project, as well as any questions, uncertainties, or obstacles you may be facing.

CESEM also announces the schedule for project support sessions:

• 7 January, 11:00 a.m. – Pedro Moreira | Developing and Writing the Research Project: Questions and Challenges.
• 8 January, 10:30 a.m. – Vinícius de Aguiar | Notes on the rhetoric and structure of grant applications.
• 12 January, 10:30 a.m. – João Pedro d’Alvarenga | Grant Writing Essentials: Structure and Content.

Each session consists of two parts. The first will be open to all applicants, during which the senior researcher will share best practices for academic writing (60 minutes: 30 minutes for the presentation followed by 30 minutes for questions). After a short break (15 minutes), there will be a more focused session dedicated to the analysis and discussion of a number of previously selected applications. Participants in this second part will receive, in advance, a detailed summary of the applications to be discussed (duration: 60 minutes).
