On May 19 and 20 CESEM continues the celebration of its 20th anniversary by participating in the 61st edition of the Festival Dias de Música Electroacústica (DME), a festival that is already supported by INET-md (NOVA FCSH). This edition will be dedicated to the guitar and take place at Espaço Lisboa Incomum (Rua General Leman, 20). The activities of the festival include performances by guitarists whose careers are centred on new music, as well as lectures, an open reading and a workshop. The repertoire that Belquior Guerrero, Bertrand Chavarría-Aldrete e Mauricio Carrasco will play includes works for solo guitar, guitar and electronics and electric guitar, most of them being premiered in Portugal and some by Portuguese composers. Rita Torres, a researcher of CESEM and one of the composers, will give a lecture demonstration about the technique of guitar multiphonics. Mauricio Carrasco will conduct an open reading of a piece of Torres and a workshop on notational systems and their presentation. Bertrand Chavarría-Aldrete will give two lectures: one on extended techniques on the guitar, and the other about his work on the interpretation of new music for guitar through the visual arts.
