Vocal laboratory: The vibrating word. An encounter between Grotowski, Fitzmaurice and Indian chant

24/02/2022 @ 18:00 - 21:00 WET

This workshop is based on the work developed by Alicia Corral over several years from three fundamental pillars: (i) Jerzy Grotowski’s vocal research on Art as a vehicle; (ii) The Fitzmaurice Voicework method and its liberation of breath; and (iii) the system of traditional Indian vocal music. Throughout the workshop, we will seek to:
– develop the resonance and vibration of the voice in one’s own body, the so-called “vibrating body”
– observe the effects of some sounds and words on the body, mind, and emotions
– explore the effects of different sounds on another person’s body
– explore the effect of sound in the group and in space through intracorporeal and extracorporeal resonances
– work on personal expression and creativity through learning, improvisation, and exploration with Indian vocal music
– developing the connection between song and body and its expression in space through gesture and movement

Via Zoom.
