Biography

He studied at Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema in Lisbon. As a scholarship holder from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, he completed his Masters in Directing at Middlesex University in London, where part of his studies were carried out in Moscow and Bangkok. Afterwards, still with a scholarship from the Gulbenkian Foundation, he carried out Advanced Qualification Studies at the Faculty of Directing of the Russian Academy of Theatrical Arts (GITIS) in Moscow. He worked as an actor in seven shows at Teatro da Cornucópia with Luís Miguel Cintra and also with Christine Laurent. He also worked on shows by João Perry, António Pires, Luís Assis, Lúcia Sigalho, La Fura dels Baus among others. He was assistant director of Luís Miguel Cintra, António Pires and Fernanda Lapa. He staged several shows and teached at university theater groups, TEUC, CITAC, InterDito and Díspar Teatro. He co-staged with Dinarte Branco the show “gestos para nada” from Sinisterra, presented as part of Coimbra Capital Cultural 2004 and at Teatro da Cornucópia. He was a full-time teacher from 2007 to 2011 on the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Theater at the University of Évora, where he taught several subjects in the areas of acting, improvisation, body and project. He was deputy director of the Theater Department from 2009 to 2011. Teacher from 2013 to 2016 of the Theater and Consciousness discipline in the postgraduate course “Development through Expressive Arts” at the Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada – IU He is a collaborator in the Education and Human Development Group at CESEM, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He is part of the Editorial Board of the Arte da Cena magazine at the Federal University of Goiás, Brazil Since 2013, he has been part of the teaching staff at the Cascais Professional Theater School.
