Biography

Guilherme Granato is a doctoral student affiliated with the Center for the Study of Sociology and Aesthetics of Music (CESEM) at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. His current research focuses on the relationship between the Brazilian songwriter Caetano Veloso and the poets of the Noigandres group, who were pioneers of Brazilian concrete poetry. This research is funded by Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

In 2018, Granato published the book Das Vanguardas à Tropicália: Modernidade Artística e Música Popular (‘From the Avant-Guards to Tropicália: Artistic Modernity and Popular Music’), the result of his master’s research in Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art conducted at the Federal University of Ouro Preto in Brazil.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Granato also enjoys a career as a musician. His most recent release is the single ‘Quarentenar,’ from 2022.
