Nuno Vieira de Almeida

Nuno Vieira de Almeida was born in Lisbon. After graduating from the Lisbon Conservatory he went to Vienna, on a schollarship of the Gulbenkian Foundation, to study with Leonid Brumberg and later to London to study with Geoffrey Parsons.He has worked as a Lied pianist, with great singers such as Gundula Janowitz, Peter Weber or Gabriele Fontana.In Lisbon, where he has been living for the past years, he has worked with all the major portuguese singers such as Elsa Saque or Elisabete Matos.He has recorded many CD’s with portuguese music for voice and piano for the portuguese label Tradisom.He has also worked with the portuguese film maker Manoel de Oliveira and recorded all the the music from the film Vale Abraão.He has a PhD in historical musicology from Universidade Nova. He teaches repertoire at the Superior Music School in Lisbon.
