IMCC 2.1 – Itinerant Musical Composition Classes: Blended Intensive Programs and Eramus+ Mobility

IMCC 2.1 – Itinerant Musical Composition Classes: Blended Intensive Programs and Eramus+ Mobility

Abstract

The field of music composition, whether instrumental, vocal, or electroacoustic, is inherently personal and shaped by local and national traditions. Traditionally, a young composer would study under the guidance of a single composition master. However, in today’s globalized world, composers must navigate an international career landscape where commissions and festivals often span multiple institutions and countries. It is essential to prepare emerging composers for this international environment.

The success of the first IMMC Erasmus+ program (2020-2022) highlighted the value and lasting positive impact of international collaboration on teachers and young student composers.

More information

The project’s objectives are as follows:

  1. To bring together a group of European young composers to meet one another, learn from different approaches to electroacoustic music composition and from each other, and contribute to the European artistic and academic life.
  2. To expose the young composers to multiple teaching methods and local specialities.
  3. To consolidate the young composers’ mastery of digital tools and skills, especially in electroacoustic music.

The programme will also facilitate the young composers’ exposure to the cultural and musical lives of other European cities and countries, as well as their mastery of other European languages.
