Portuguese music for guitar: Pieces by Fernando C. Lapa
Abstract
This project aims to contribute to disseminating Portuguese contemporary music by presenting a commented concert filled with works by the composer Fernando C. Lapa. The project responds to the need to build spaces for understanding contemporary Portuguese creation, allowing new generations of musicians, professionals or students, and new audiences to get closer to musical works as interior elements.
Fernando C. Lapa (Vila Real, 1950) studied music at the Porto Conservatory of Music, where he completed the degree course in Composition in the class of Professor Cândido Lima. Over the last three decades, he has created nearly 300 works covering almost all musical genres: concert, symphonic and choral-symphonic repertoire, opera, chamber music, works for solo instruments, soundtracks for film and theatre; he is a leading composer of the Portuguese music scene.
