This book contributes to the knowledge of the life and work of Friar José Marques e Silva, but above all, it sheds light on the identity of Portuguese organ building at the end of the Ancien Régime. It is the result of João Vaz's doctoral thesis, where he explores the theme of organ music in Portugal at the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, as well as its relationship with the instruments built during that period for the performance of this repertoire.
