Abstract

The team has observed children’s spontaneous improvised communication during the presentation of PaPI Opus 8 in two Norwegian kindergartens. Due to pandemics, the planned observations in Portugal (of the same piece at Fábrica das Artes) had to be replaced by the conception and observation of PaPI Opus 8.z (an adaptation of PaPI Opus 8 for Zoom platform). The observation of both experiences allowed to: (i) share artistic experiences specially conceived for early childhood; (ii) to reflect on their importance and repercussions for those involved (children, artists, educators, families); (iii) to promote the scientific study of children’s reception/behaviour in “ecological” contexts of artistic performance; (iv) to promote, among the general public and, in particular, among artists, educators, and researchers, the interest and awareness for the importance of the experience of art in early childhood. The main outputs include: i) a presentation in X International Colloquium on Arts for Childhood and Human and Social Development; ii) collaboration in the adaptation of PaPI Opus 8 for the Zoom platform; iii) a paper published by Nordic Journal of Art & Research.
