Discover LFRI, CESEM’s new database
The new database of Liturgical Feasts and Rites is now available. Designed and developed by two CESEM researchers, Alberto Medina de Seiça and Zuelma Chaves, and under the scientific supervision of Manuel Pedro Ferreira, the database provides free and universal access to a list of feasts (and related rites), with standardised terminology and searchable through various search filters, namely the celebratory “cycles”: temporal (organised in the order of the liturgical calendar) and sanctoral (alphabetically ordered); or through specific dates or the interval between dates.
The list is presented in a double repository: with the standardised term in Latin, and summary description in English; and with the standardised term and description in Portuguese.
The taxonomies essentially follow the structure and principles established by the international Cantus Index platform. With this database, CESEM intends to enhance the interoperability of the various digital catalogues (Portuguese Early Music; Music Archive of the Casa de Bragança Museum-Library, Vila Viçosa; Music Archive of the National Palace of Mafra; Cistercian Books and Libraries).
